Privacy Policy for Pressto

Pressto ("the app", "we", "us") is developed by Cosmic Coder ("the developer"). This policy explains what happens to your data when you use Pressto.

The short version

Pressto compresses your photos and PDFs entirely on your device. There is no Pressto server. We never see, receive, upload, or store a copy of your files anywhere. The only data leaving your device is technical/diagnostic information collected by Google Firebase (Analytics and Crashlytics) and Google AdMob, described below — none of it includes the contents of your files.

How Pressto works with your files

Pressto is a share-sheet utility: you share a photo or PDF to Pressto (or pick one from within the app), it compresses that file using on-device processing, and hands the result back to you to save or share onward.

• Processing happens locally. Compression (image recompression, PDF recompression, and the optional page-rasterization mode) all runs on your device using local libraries. Your file is never transmitted to us or to any server we operate, because no such server exists.
• Saving a file. When you tap "Save", Pressto writes the compressed file to your device's public Downloads folder using Android's standard MediaStore system. This is the same Downloads folder any other app can save to — it is controlled by your device's operating system, not by us.
• Sharing a file. When you tap "Share", Pressto opens Android's native share sheet so you can choose where to send the compressed file (Gmail, WhatsApp, etc.). What happens after you choose an app is between you and that app — Pressto does not intercept, log, or retain that content.

Information stored on your device

Pressto keeps a local history of your past compressions (file name, original and compressed file size, a local file path, and the date) so you can revisit them from the History tab. This history:

• Is stored entirely on your device in a local database.
• Is never uploaded, synced, or transmitted anywhere.
• Can be deleted entry-by-entry at any time (swipe to delete in the History tab).
• Is permanently erased if you uninstall the app or clear its app data.

We do not require or offer any account, sign-in, or profile, so we do not collect your name, email address, or any other identity information.

Analytics & crash reporting

Pressto uses Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand how the app is used and to catch crashes/bugs. These tools collect:

• App usage events — for example, that a compression finished, which preset was used, whether the optional PDF-flattening was used, or a screen was viewed. These events include technical details like file type (image/PDF) and percentage saved, never the file's name, path, or contents.
• Crash and error diagnostics — technical information about what the app was doing when it crashed or hit an error (stack traces, device model, OS version, app version), so we can fix bugs.
• Device/app identifiers used by Google to aggregate this data (e.g., a Firebase installation ID and, on Android, your advertising ID).

This data is processed by Google under its own privacy policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and Firebase's terms. We use it in aggregate to improve app stability and features — we do not use it to identify you personally, and it never contains your photos, PDFs, filenames, or file paths.

Advertising

Pressto is supported by ads served through Google AdMob (banner ads and occasional full-screen interstitial ads). Google AdMob may collect and process technical information such as your device's advertising identifier, IP address, general device information, and app interaction data, in order to serve and measure ads (including, where applicable, personalized ads based on your interests).

This data collection is performed by Google, not by Pressto directly, and is governed by Google's own privacy policies:

You can review or reset your advertising identifier, and opt out of personalized/interest-based ads, in your device's system settings (on Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads).

Permissions Pressto uses

• Receiving shared files (Android's Share intent) — so you can share a photo or PDF into Pressto from any other app.
• Storage access via MediaStore — only to save a compressed file to your Downloads folder when you explicitly tap "Save".
• Internet access — required by the Google AdMob, Firebase Analytics, and Firebase Crashlytics SDKs to request ads and send the diagnostic data described above.

Pressto does not request or use camera, microphone, contacts, location, or call/SMS permissions.

Children's privacy

Pressto is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us using the details below so we can address it.

Data retention & deletion

Because Pressto has no backend server, there is no server-side copy of your files or history to request deletion of. Everything Pressto stores lives locally on your device and is fully within your control:

• Delete individual history entries from the History tab, or
• Uninstall the app to remove all locally stored data at once.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes (for example, if we introduce new features or third-party services). Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
